Eggs on the Sands

The rumors start flying as soon as someone catches sight of Ohanath gliding over to the main Hatching Sands. By the time the Candidates are released from chores for the midday meal, it's all anyone's talking about. How many eggs are there? Will there be a gold? And most importantly to a lot of the Weyrfolk - will Ohanath rise again after this? Granted, the latter question won't be answered for months, but it's still something to be whispering about.
While there's no requirement for everyone to eat at the same time, the Dining Hall is certainly crowded, and there is a lot of attention on the upper table, where the Weyrwoman and Weyrleader and goldriders usually sit. Especially once Behra enters, but she ignores the scrutiny with the ease of long practice, waiting until the hour is nearly up before she stands to address the room. Silence spreads out like a wave.
"As I am sure everyone is aware, Ohanath had laid her clutch," she announces, voice carrying across the room. "She and Takakoth has graced the Weyr with eleven eggs, though no gold this time. Thank you."
She sits down, and the room erupts into chatter.
